​MISSION AND HISTORY
One in A Million Inc. was established November 1, 1995 and chartered on February 28, 1996 in Springfield, IL. One in A Million Inc. is a multi-racial, multi-issue, not-for-profit organization founded by African American men and soon joined by African American women of Springfield, IL. Our purpose is to build an organization with the power to protect the legitimate interest of our community and advance its right to self-determination. Our mission is to move our community towards Spiritual, Social, Racial, Political, and Economic equality. We embrace and seek to do this by forming an organization that builds bridges across barriers of race, class, gender, and religion. Together we will form a new majority that shares power so we can share in the benefits and responsibilities of our community and country. Our methods will include: Research, Education, Participation, and Voter Registration.
